Do you think your city's unemployment rate is affecting the crime rate?

I am doing a research paper for school and would like to gather some opinions. Thanks!

Depends on the city. Where i live the crime rate is relativly low but so is unemployment. Financial hardship is the number one reason why people commit crimes. The people who do commit the crimes are often only qualified for lwoer income jobs that arent sufficient for supporting a family. Also it is very hard for convicted criminals to support themselves once they are let out of jail, so all they can do is what they know how to do like steal or sell drugs. There are also people who just plain don%26#039;t want to work too.

no b/c if people want to do something theyll do it reguardless theyll find a way.|||well in my town... ive never seen someone who has commited a crime exept for kids stealing things downtown (its funny, were one of the richest towns- yet a lot of kids steal)

they obviously dont have jobs...

anyway, there are very few unemployed in my town, and there is like not a crime rate, so yes, i think it is affecting the crime rate.
